Protection of container and cargo from moisture (moisture absorbent)

Protection of the container and cargo from moisture (moisture absorbent) – first aid for loads sensitive to moisture. However, moisture-induced cargo damage is one of the most actual problems in cargo transportation, sensitive to moisture damage – mold, corrosion, rust, moistened boxes become resistant to load, and peels off labels. In addition, the delivery of a non-conditioned cargo to the recipient may result in a serious claim and financial losses, and in some cases of a fully terminated business relationship. It is always possible to insure cargo and reduce financial risk, but no insurance company insures the relationship with the customer.

Condensation process

We’ve all seen a cold drink pulled out of the fridge on a hot summer day. After some time moisture is accumulating on it. This process is called condensation. The higher the temperature difference – the faster the process takes place. Similarly, the vehicle or container and the goods or materials contained therein heat up and cool off from the night coolness. This allows condensate to form in the vehicle. Cargo transit times in containers takes much longer than land transport, so the possibility and risk of condensation will is higher and might damage the cargo. Of course, this risk occurs when transporting goods to high moisture and hot climate countries.

Using an absorber

The protection of the container and cargo from moisture (moisture absorbent) is used both for the transport of goods by sea, air and land transport. It protects cereals, coffee, tea, cocoa beans, sugar, spices, steel, flowers, potato seeds, aluminum and many other products from moisture. Often used for transporting used cars in containers, so that the cabin does not form mold during transportation.

Usage in containers

When transporting grains in containers, desiccant bags are hung first, and the liner bag is installed in the container thereafter. It is recommended to install 12 bags in one 20′ foot container, but on the customer’s request we could install less – 8 or 6. We do not recommend adding less than 6, as the collection of moisture will be inefficient.

The absorbent is environmentally friendly and completely safe – it can be disposed of as normal waste. It is environmentally friendly and effective protection against moisture.
